WIP Wednesday

firethesoundA good amount of words this week, and mostly above all else I am pleased with how consistently I've been writing. Even though it still feels like I'm not getting much writing time and it's frustrating that it's taking me this long to get anything finished and posted, and what I do get is broken up in small bits throughout the day, the words are continuing to add up so I really can't complain too much. Especially since this is the most I've been writing in literally years.
Very close to hitting my August goal already, which I'm grateful to have done. My parents are coming up for a visit this weekend and will stay for a week, then my spouse's family will be visiting at the end of the month, so I don't anticipate having nearly as much time to write then.
New words this week : 6484 words and I am very pleased.
WIPs worked on this week : 3, with 1 new WIP
The Old Guard
☆ food truck au : 5255 words which brings the total to 12,220 words and I guess it's not going to be done in 10k, either lol. I think I can finally see the shape of this one, it'll be divided into three chapters and the first chapter is about 6k, so I am pretty hopeful that the rest of it will be done in about 20k-ish. We'll see!
☆ werewolf au : 877 words which brings the total to 877 words. Kind of dying with how much I want to write this so this will probably be my next project I focus on. No plot so far, just vibes. We'll see where the muse leads!
☆ Old Kingdom au : 405 words which brings the total to 14,341 words. Not a lot of progress, just getting down some bits on a scene I had an idea for.

Aug. 6th, 2025 12:55 pmfirethesoundA pretty successful week, wordcount-wise! Life is still pretty busy and hectic so while the words are flowing, writing time is still in frustratingly short short supply. I've been trying to write at least a little bit every single day, but I still ended up with a couple of zero days this week because sometimes the only available time I have comes at the very end of the day when my brain feels like a boiled potato. Telling myself that all words are good words, and every little bit gets me that much closer to finished!
New words this week : 6935 words which is awesome! About half this wordcount came from a single day, which is even more awesome. It's the best feeling when a new idea just clicks, and the words fly out onto the page.

☆ food truck au : 6165 words which brings the total to 7156 words and I guess I'm not finishing this one in the 5k I thought I would lol. It is pretty close to finished, though, so I think it'll be around 10k (assuming I keep it at a T rating, if I bump it up to E then obviously that'll add an extra scene and take a little longer). Absolutely delighted with it, it's the sort of silly nonsense that I used to write a lot of and it's just so much fun.
☆ Redamancy : 320 words which brings the total to 5872 words. I didn't actually work on this, but I did some writing for the food truck au that started to take it in a direction that I didn't feel really worked for it, and I think I can reuse some of the dialogue in this one so I just copy/pasted all of it over to sort out later.
